The Telangana Labour Department has served legal notices to the producers of Irumudi as they have used a child artiste during the promotions and shooting of the film. The production team has been asked to appear before inquiry on November 4.
Officials are looking to find out if the producers sought prior permission from the District Magistrate as it is mandatory to do so before employing a child artiste. They are also probing if the producers adhered to the regulations for employing children in the entertainment sector.
They want to know if 20% of the child artist’s total salary was kept in a fixed deposit account in her name as per the rules. Officials also want to know what time she worked during the film’s shooting and promotion.
The production team will also be questioned about getting parental consent and ensuring that schooling was not affected.
Directed by Siva Nirvana, Irumudi stars Ravi Teja in the lead role and has been receiving a good response recently. It has been produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
The inquiry will determine if the production adhered to the rules for employing child artistes.
